Dan Auerbach and Damon Dash are two visionaries who were tremendously success in their rock/hip-hop hybridization project known as BlakRoc. While the Black Keys clearly had a large influence in the project’s final product, as seen in the characteristically strong guitar riffs, many big-whig hip-hop artists also were highly involved in the BlakRoc project. From Mos Def’s smoky vocals in “Ain’t Nothing Like You,” to emotional raps of Jim Jones and the politically heated rhymes of Q-Tip, this project has successfully taken my favorite elements of rock music and fused them with my favorite parts of hip-hop and rap music, without incorporating any ounce of commercialization. The BlakRoc album articulates a collective emotional experience in a way that highlights the passions of many diverse artists. This song is an example of the incredible output that this coordination produced. ENJOY!
